Past President Harley Jones (l) Representative Tom Graves. GA Ninth District (c) and Treasurer David Geer (r) met August 17th. Congressman Graves was briefed on the Declining Navy Fleet/Need for a 313 Ship Navy, and the necessity for a fully funded shipbuilding budget. He was very receptive to the briefing and said he understands the importance of a strong defense.Jones and Geer also met with David Weikel, his local field representative.

Congressman Jim Marshall, Georgia District 3, met with Navy League representatives in his office in Macon, Georgia, on April 2, 2010. He was briefed on Navy League support for the U.S. Navy's ship building requirements, and asked to support a funding level that will return the Navy Fleet to number well above the 313 minimum size stated by the CNO. Atlanta Metropolitan Council members met with Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss in his Atlanta Office, December 14, 2010. The purpose was to provide a Grassroots Navy League Legislative Affairs briefing regarding a our Navy League support of our Maritime Forces and to specifically request his support for our U.S. Navy's ship building needs and the recapitalization needs of our U.S. Coast Guard. A copy of the book "Defending Freedom" was presented toSenator Chambliss from our Atlanta Metropolitan Council, with our appreciation of his strong support for our military.
Congressman David Scott (Georgia District 13) accepts a copy of "Defending Freedom" from Atlanta Metropolitan Council member Gene McCarthy (L), and Council VP Legislative Affairs, Don Giles (R) following an appointment in Congressman Scott's District Office in Smyrna, Georgia November 23 2009. The purpose of the appointment was to brief Navy League Legislative Affairs Presentation Two to Congressman Scott. Presentation Two covers the Navy League's support for.resetting our Maritime Forces, particularly the Navy's ship building needs and the Coast Guard's Deep Water Recapitalization Program requirements.

Atlanta Metropolitan Council members, (L) Don Giles, Council VP Legislative Affairs; and (R) Dave Beasley, Council Director, presented a Navy League History book to Congressman Phil Gingrey, Georgia District 11, in Congressman Gingrey's office in Marietta, Georgia. Congressman Gingrey, a strong advocate for our military services, received the Navy League Grassroots Legislative Affairs Presentation Two during the meeting on June 15, 2009.

Following the Navy League Grassroots Legislative AffairsBriefing, Congressman Broun reaffirmed his strong support for our all our military services, and for funding the priority requirements for our Maritime Services. Congressman Broun served in our U.S. Marine Corps as a jet engine mechanic, and subsequently as a medical doctor in our U.S. Navy Medical Corps.
On January 5, 2009 Captain Harley Jones, USN (Ret) and Captain David Geer, USN (Ret) presented Presentation 2 to Congressman Nathan Deal (9th District Georgia) and his Chief of Staff Mr. Chris Riley. Following the presentation, CAPT Jones, presentedthe Congressman with the USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729) Return to Service coin.
